Dr Rachel is the best! He always puts my mind at ease. Brian Ishmael is awesome too. They work hard to make sure you're getting all the necessary time you need to get you healed. The nurses are great, and the office staff is so organized and friendly. Highly recommend Dr Rachel and his team!

I have historic issues with Peterson gastroenterology care given care lapses in my beloved partner’s final weeks of life. Dr. Rachal provided hospital consult but for a basic uncomplicated endoscopy my beloved was transferred to SA hospital because of unavailability of gastroenterologist locally for procedure. If a PEG tube falls out while hospitalized at Peterson (as my beloved’s PEG feeding tube did) the PEG tube needs to be reinserted immediately - not 4 days later when site heals despite 18 years of PEG tube dependence for full nutrition (NPO). So my own GI care needs are compromised by my experience and compromised trust issues regarding my NPO partner’s failure to receive any nutrition over a four-day period while hospitalized at Peterson because of the Peterson gastroenterology department’s failure (of which Rachal is a prominent member) to promptly reinsert his tube - his sole source of nutrition - weakening him and IMHO contributing to cardiac arrest/death (no identified cardiac issues during stay) a few days after discharge from Peterson as he returned to his NYTimes, daughters, elliptical, dogs, and cats at home. I know the department to have competent care providers but insufficient staffing to safely meet the needs of this region. Waiting 3 months for an appointment then another 3 months for an available date for a colonoscopy is unreasonable - a consequence of low physician availability (the issue which also affected my partner’s care while hospitalized). In addition, I believe there is a failure to individually evaluate a patient’s suitability for a colonoscopy process among ALL gastroenterologists. A standard protocol is applied without consideration for the individual patient - meds, age, stamina are disregarded in prep process. Peterson also fails to keep accurate records of, for example, my previous colonoscopy at Peterson. I regret that I bring my distrust to Peterson GI clinic who performed a previous colonoscopy for me and lost the records BUT SHOULDN’T PETERSON MAINTAIN MY HEALTH RECORDS RATHER THAN LOSE MY HEALTH HISTORY?! It was painful to be forced to revisit the final weeks of my beloved’s life in the context of Rachal’s & Peterson’s inability to “do no harm” to the man our daughters and I loved for so many decades - and, by extension, harm to me. Trust is an integral part of the physician-patient relationship. I know competence exists in Peterson GI clinic - communication and discernment of patients’ needs with the goal of patient safety may be a vulnerability to be addressed. And the Peterson system maintaining adequate patient records so I don’t have a GI LVN insist that I’m clearly mistaken about having a colonoscopy done at ACC. Yeah, do something about records so I’m not harangued about being clearly mistaken about my medical history by an LVN.

Dr Rachel and his office is entirely professional and personable. A comfortable office to be in. After dealing with IBS for 40 years with other doctors, Dr Rachal came up with the appropriate and successful rx regime that has given me relief. My life is greatly relieved of this constant debillatation.
