Heart Health Does Not End in February
Heart and Vascular
Want to learn more about this at Peterson Health?
February gave us the opportunity to focus intentionally on heart health, but cardiovascular care is not limited to one month on the calendar. Heart health is addressed every day through prevention, emergency response, intervention, and rehabilitation.
Throughout Heart Month, we highlighted key risk factors, reinforced the importance of early recognition, and introduced the team members who support patients at every stage of cardiac care. The goal was straightforward: increase awareness and encourage action.
Prevention Still Leads the Conversation
Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Many contributing factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, and sedentary lifestyle are manageable with consistent medical care and informed decision making.
Routine checkups and screenings are not optional extras. They are the foundation of prevention. Knowing your numbers allows providers to intervene early, before a crisis occurs.
Recognizing and Responding Quickly
When symptoms do appear, timing matters. Chest discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue, or pain radiating to the arm, back, neck, or jaw require immediate attention. Delaying care increases damage. Acting quickly improves outcomes. Our emergency, cardiac, and interventional teams are structured to respond efficiently when every minute counts.
Moving Forward
If Heart Month prompted you to think about your own risk factors, now is the time to act on it. Schedule the appointment. Review your lab work. Ask questions about your numbers. Make a realistic adjustment to your routine and maintain it. Heart health is built through consistent decisions, not seasonal reminders.
We remain committed to providing accessible, comprehensive heart care for our community year-round.
