Kerrville, TX (July 31, 2018) – Peterson Health today announced that it has been named a 5-star recipient for Vaginal Delivery by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Peterson Regional Medical Center , Peterson Women’s Associates, and the skilled team of caregivers at The Baby Place work hand-in-hand to bring high-quality obstetric care to Kerrville and providing customized birth experiences for expectant mothers with extraordinary comfort.

A recent patient wrote, “After reflecting on my delivery of my son this past Saturday, as well as the care I received the last six weeks of my pregnancy since moving to the area, I can truly say that I am blown away by the incredible team I had the privilege to know. Having met every single midwife, I went into my labor knowing with confidence I was going to be supported and empowered as a mother bringing a child into this world. I felt heard. The team, not only the midwife, but also the staff at Peterson Regional Medical Center, truly took the time to listen to my needs and desires to the best of their ability. There is nowhere else I would rather be going into labor than that of the capable hands of these folks!”

“With more options than ever on where to receive care, consumers need to do their homework,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “Hospitals that have received a 5-star rating have shown dedication and expertise, resulting in high-quality outcomes for patients.”

To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance, Healthgrades analyzed all-payer state data for 15 states and the District of Columbia for years 2014 through 2016. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in hospital quality between those that have received 5-stars and those that have not. For example:

  • From 2014 through 2016, patients having a Vaginal Delivery in hospitals with 5-stars have, on average, a 42.7% lower risk for experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals with 1-star.”
