SAVE-A-LIFE: Donate a Life Jacket to Keep Our Kids Safe

Every summer our community loses adults and children to drowning accidents, and our Emergency Department cares for many patients who have had near drowning events. In an effort to prevent these traumatic incidents, Peterson Health’s Trauma team, in partnership with The Salvation Army, is proud to announce the Save-A-Life, Give A Jacket Program: a fundraising campaign to keep our community kids safe in the water this summer.

How to Donate?

Peterson Hospice to host Welcome Home Reception for Vietnam War Veterans Day

Kerrville, TX –March 20, 2024 – The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act was signed into law in 2017. It designates March 29th of each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. This day commemorates the last American troops departing from Vietnam on March 29th, 1973. As the nation honors these American heroes for their military service and pays tribute to their selfless actions, Peterson Hospice will extend its recognition by hosting a Welcome Home Reception on March 29th at the Hill Country Veterans Center located at 411 Meadowview Lane in Kerrville.

As a We Honor Veterans partner, Peterson Hospice is providing specialized care to veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness and their families throughout the year. This includes a veteran volunteer program, recognition of service certificates, and assistance navigating veteran’s benefits.
In recognition of Vietnam Veterans Day, Peterson Hospice invites you to attend our Welcome Home Reception on March 29th at Hill Country Veterans Center at 10:30AM. The program will include a presentation of colors by the Tivy JROTC, the National Anthem lead by Tivy Choir Quartet, a Missing Man table in honor of fallen, missing, or imprisoned service members, and a pinning ceremony led by our local DAR chapter.

“Peterson Hospice has the privilege of supporting persons at the end of life and their families. It is an honor to care for those who have made a commitment of service to our freedom and our country. Our veterans deserve the utmost respect for their sacrifices, and we are grateful for the opportunity to show our support.” said Gretchen Rye, Community Outreach Coordinator for Peterson Home Based Services.
The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, created the We Honor Veterans program to empower hospice and other healthcare providers across America to meet the unique needs of seriously ill Veterans and their families. Peterson Health Names Inpatient and Outpatient of the Year

Kerrville, TX – February 2, 2024 –Peterson Health’s Compassion Fund supports home care patients in the Hill Country who have a debilitative diagnosis and are experiencing a lack of monetary and social resources. These individuals receive home care services because of their inability to meet their medical needs or to care for themselves. Often, they are unable to improve their wellbeing due to their difficult situation. Donations from the Compassion Fund help elevate the health and living conditions for those patients.

Lanier Nelson, medical social worker at Peterson Health Home Care, is bringing awareness and raising funds to help this local population of patients by completing an “Everesting” on his bicycle. On Saturday, February 24, 2024, Nelson will attempt to ride up a single hill repetitively until he reaches 32,032 feet in elevation gain – the same elevation as Mount Everest.

“I am doing this fundraiser to raise money for our elderly and disabled patients in the community that are in destitute situations,” Nelson said. “Often these patients make the minimum to live on so anything extra like a door knob, glucometer, or patch on the roof or wall are not feasible.”

To help support Nelson in his compassionate effort, donations can be made to Peterson Health’s Compassion Fund by visiting PetersonHealth.com/CompassionFund. To dedicate your donation to Nelson’s Everesting challenge, be sure to include “Lanier Nelson” in the “in honor of” box on the donation page. There are also opportunities for businesses to obtain logo placement for advertisement purposes on his custom jersey. Contact Nelson directly at BNelson@PetersonHealth.com, or 830.3258.7736, for more details.
