World-Class Care in Kerrville, 70 Years Strong!
Peterson Health, a health network serving patients and the community in the Texas Hill Country, has grown to be so much more than a hospital.
What started as a single facility in 1949 has quickly expanded to more than a dozen rooftops spanning nine counties, each united with a singular purpose to elevate the health of our community.
Peterson Health’s flagship hospital, Peterson Regional Medical Center, a 124-bed, not-for-profit rural community hospital located in Kerrville, began a legacy of exceptional, compassionate, patient-centered care – forming the foundation of Peterson’s inspired mission to offer world-class care, today, tomorrow, and always.
Home to more than 1,000 full time employees and 250 medical professionals, Peterson Health remains the largest employer in Kerr County for decades. Peterson Health is alive and thriving thanks to the tireless dedication of individuals who see healthcare as their calling and their efforts have not gone unnoticed both here at home and on a national scale as they care for more people in more places every day.
Peterson Health’s commitment to Elevating Health earned the organization a national award. In 2017, after consistently winning a Top 100 Rural Community Hospital, the National Rural Health Association awarded Peterson Regional Medical Center the highest distinction as a Top 20 Rural Community Hospital – the ONLY one in Texas. This honor elevated Peterson Health’s status in the healthcare arena on a national scale, serving as a benchmark for other rural hospitals as they strive to successfully navigate the future of healthcare. While proud of numerous other national, regional, state and local awards and distinctions, Peterson Health never loses focus on the real mission to provide the best patient experience and quality outcomes across all services.
Peterson Health’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare is what drives its strategic growth today. The main campus offers 25 key service lines and departments, including an emergency department, acute rehab unit, a Texas Ten Step designated maternity unit – The Baby Place and Women’s Services, an intensive care unit, an expanded Heart and Vascular clinic, seven surgical suites, and an award-winning joint replacement program, “Back to Life.”
Peterson’s neighboring Ambulatory Care Center offers outpatient surgical services, radiology, imaging, labs, outpatient rehabilitation, and an advanced Wound Healing Center featuring two hyperbaric oxygen chambers.
Peterson’s roster of services includes Peterson Hospice and Home Care, Peterson Medical Associates, Peterson Women’s Associates, Peterson Health Plaza (formerly Kerrville Medical Plaza and to include Peterson’s Outreach Lab), Peterson Community Care, and Peterson Urgent Care. Proudly, Peterson has expanded its footprint in neighboring counties to include a family practice clinic in Bandera and a physical therapy rehabilitation clinic in Comfort. Plans are also underway to open a new medical facility in Kerrville at 130 W. Main. And Peterson Health has no intention of stopping there and will continue to discover new opportunities to expand into the regions that need quality healthcare.
