75 Years of Elevating Health

Our History: A Walk Down Legacy Lane

1969 – By its 20th anniversary, the hospital had displaced the gas station to make room for expanded X-ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services; undergone a $1 million construction project to expand the sixth floor nursing unit, and added a seventh floor, increasing bed capacity to 86.

1985 – The Surgical Annex opens, expanding surgical services and increasing patient beds to 148. This is the first project completed in a long-range, $6 million expansion plan, half of which is supported by the Peterson Foundation with the other half contributed by the community.

1990 – Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital separates from the Hal and Charlie Peterson Foundation to become an independent, nonprofit, 148-bed community hospital supported solely through patient revenues and private donations.
